23/09 2007: MAD&HUNGRY DOWNLOAD TEASERS

TEASERS FROM TRAVELIN'

We have put out some teasers (mp3) from Mad&Hungry's debut album "Travelin". You'll find them under "music" section. The tracks represent a large variety of styles, from the juicy bluesrock of "Street Bum" to Mads' unusual approach to bottleneck guitar playing in the brand new intrumental "Blue Spider". "When she tells you" features a trademark Mads guitar solo, and "This is not a Tango" - written by Frank Hovland - brings a "film noir" flavour to the table.

The long-awaited debut album from Mad&Hungry will be in stores from Monday September 24. 12/09 2007: SOLO CONCERT

SOLO CONCERT AT MADAM FELLE THURSDAY SEP 13

Mads will do a follow-up to his highly succesful solo acoustic gig at Madam Felle in November last year, which was surprisingly well attended considering the fact that Iron Maiden played just down the road the same evening. Mads will mix his diverse acoustic compositions from his near-20 year recording carreer with blues, country and ragtime classics. To bury any speculations as to whether Mads has ?gone soft?, he will probably whip out the ol’ electric towards the end of the set.
 The show starts at 22:00.

MAD&HUNGRY’S DEBUT ALBUM OUT ON SEPTEMBER 24!

More details in a few days..

27/06 2007: MORE CONCERTS AND NEW ALBUM

A MESSAGE FROM MADS

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all doing OK...the last couple of months have been really busy for me, I haven’t even got the time to keep you updated about my activities! It has been a lot of fun and very diverse challenges – it was great to do the gigs with Chris Thompson and Special guest Katrina Leskanich (Ex-Katrina and the waves) for two nights at totally packed Madam Felle in Bergen on May 4-5. This was the third year in a row that we played Madam Felle the first weekend of May, and we want to keep up the tradition of bringing on a ?celebrity? guest every year (we had Leo Sayer in 2005). Then I went to Seattle for 10 days with the Hordaland theater group, performing the Singel&Sand cabaret – quite surreal! Then I have had some gigs of my own, some with The Rolling Clones and with singer/songwriter Joanne Vaardal-Lunde, whose debut album, due to be out this fall, I’m playing on. My band had a really enjoyable gig playing Edvard Griegs music in rock arrangement a a conference in KP1 in the Bergen cinema on earlier this month, and then we put up ?Singel&Sand? again in Bergen (6shows).
In between everything, Mad&Hungry are putting the finishing touch to our album, that we started recording in January. We will mix late June/early August and the record will be out in September. We’ll throw a release party at madam Felle on Sept. 21 and 22 and tour in November.
On Saturday June 30 I’m going to Leirvik a couple of hours south of Bergen and do a music version of the Henrik Ibsen poem "Terje Vigen" with a group of musicians and actor/singer Helge Jordal. After that I plan to have some sort of a holiday before starting pre-production on my next soloalbum, which I’m really looking forward to. I’m going to work with frank Hovland – my right hand man – as usual, just him and me at the beginning, then we’ll bring in the other guys (Gunnar Bjelland and Zsolt Mescaros) later.
Hope y’all will have a great summer.
M

CONRATULATIONS TO CHRIS AND GIRLFRIEND INGE

whose daughter Millie was born on June 21! Mads has been given the honorable task of being godfather to the couple’s first child.

CONCERT LIST

Scroll down to the end of this page for a list of concerts this year. This list will be updated as more gigs are confirmed.

13/04 2007: GIGS

ANOTHER WALK ON SUNSHINE

On the annual Chris Thompson/Mads Eriksen gigs at Madam Felle this year (May 4 and 5), Katrina Leskanich, formerly of Katrina and the Waves, will appear as special guest. Katrina also performed with Chris and Mads on their event gig for Hewlett&Packard in Oslo in November last year.
The May gig has been an annual tradition (as everything in Bergen that is being done more than once). In May 2005, they were joined by Leo Sayer on two days, an event that marked the all-time ticket sale record at Madam Felle – although threatened ever so slightly by The Rolling Clones’ gig there at June 4 last year. The gigs in 2006 were also totally sold-out.
The band is as usual Frank Hovland (bass), Gunnar Bjelland (keys) and Steinar Krokstad (drums)

THE ROLLING CLONES

Are booked in for tonight and tomorrow night (April 13 and 14) at Madam Felle and and Rick’s on May 25 and 26

"SINGEL&SAND" EN ROUTE TO THE U.S

The cabaret play "Singel&Sand", where Mads plays guitars, mandolin and banjo, will be set up for 4 or 5 shows in Seattle, Washington, between May 9 and 19 this year, celebrating the bonds between the two cities Bergen and Washington. Seattle have a large number of citizens of Norwegian heritage, Seattle has the fourth largest Norwegian Constitution day parade (on May 17) on which Mads and the whole Norwegian contingent will part-take in.
While in Seattle, Mads and the other musicians, which include Frank Hovland and Steinar Krokstad, hope to find time to visit the grave of Jimi Hendrix, but will resist any temptation to sing Purple Haze? in three-part harmony, Spinal Tap-style? hopefully.

NEW SOLO ALBUM FROM MADS

Mads will start the recording of a new solo album on July 9. The album, with the working title "Just what the world needs", will be Mads first since 2001’s "Redhanded".
Meanwhile, the debut album of Mad&Hungry is in the finishing stages and will be mixed in June and released in September, followed by a tour of Norway in September/October. Further details will follow later.
