15/10 2008: LE TEKRÖ, RYPDAL AND MADS ON TOUR!

A MESSAGE FROM MADS

I’m happy to report that my long time friend and former guitar student Stig Nedreberg has become my personal manager and booking agent and has in fact been so since the beginning of this year. I first met Stig when he  approached me in a music store in Bergen asking for guitar lessons. He studied with me for about a year, but we stayed in touch even after he moved back to his home village in Hallingdalen to become a schoolteacher.  He was soon to be a cultural force in Hallingdalen and have organized the Christmas Jam at Per’s Hotell at Gol in which I have participated twice, and have received a cultural price from the council for his efforts. He also teaches guitar and writes and performs music under his own name. I was asked to play on his debut album ?It is real? a couple of years ago, and I dutifully obeyed, having already planned to try to talk him into being my manager. Stig has done a great job so far and has been instrumental in organizing Mad&Hungry’s winter ad festival gigs this year, as well as the Chris Thompson/Mads Eriksen tour in May and summer/early fall activities.
In 2004 I had to make a last minute cancellation of my participation at the Christmas Jam at Gol alongside Ronnie Le Tekrö and Terje Rypdal due to a serious back injury. Sad as it was, the idea of the N3 or "Norwegian 3" project came about then. The project is kind of a brainchild of Stig and I, and we are thrilled that we got Ronnie and Terje involved. Tour dates are going to be announced very soon.
Stig Nedreberg’s contact details are found under "Contact"

RONNIE LE TEKRÖ, TERJE RYPDAL, AND MADS TOUR NORWAY AS ?N3? IN 2009!

A new project, N3 or ?Norwegian 3? combining the talents of legendary TNT guitar player Ronnie Le Tekrö, Norways main guitar icon Terje Rypdal and Mads, will tour Norway extensively in 2009. Based loosely on the G3 project, the idea was developed by Mads and his personal&booking manager Stig Nedreberg, who are proud to announce that they got exactly the artists they wanted to participate.  The trio, accompanied by Frank Hovland (bass), Gunnar Bjelland (keyboards) and Steinar Krokstad (drums) are planning 25-30 shows in 2009, probably starting in Bergen late January. Some dates are already confirmed, look out for further details and solid dates to be announced very soon. A live DVD is to be recorded from the gigs.
The announcement of N3 was celebrated with a press conference and impromptu performance for invited fans at Hagstrøm Musikk in Bergen on September 2. See pictures from Truls Dahle.

CHRIS AND MADS ON MADAM FELLE DECEMBER 13 – GERMAN DATES POSTPONED

Chris and Mads will do a one-off gig at Bergen’s ?Madam Felle’s? club and announce who is going to be their guest at their annual gigs at the venue next year. The May concerts have become a very popular tradition and the shows are always totally sold out.
